I’M HERE AT THE CRAWFORD COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN VAN BUREN. WHAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME? IT LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF THE COURTHOUSE ROOF AND AS WE PAN AND YOU FOLLOW ME HERE, YOU CAN JUST SEE THE WIDESPREAD DAMAGE. I MEAN LIMBS IN FRONT OF ME THAT I’M DODGING DAMAGE EVERYWHERE TO THIS COURTHOUSE AND THAT’S PRETTY MUCH THE SAME STORY THAT WE’VE HEARD FOR THE REST OF VAN BUREN AND THE CRAWFORD COUNTY. WE TALKED TO BRAD THOMAS. CRAWFORD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER THIS MORNING. HE SAYS THEY’RE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE IN MANY PLACES. HE SAYS FIRE AND POLICE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO FINISHING THEIR INITIAL SEARCHES. WE’LL HAVE MORE INFORMATION. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SEE AS DAYLIGHT COMES BUT THIS DAMAGE AGAIN IS NOT JUST CONFINED TO VAN BUREN ROADS OR BLOCKED WITH TREES AND POWER LINES. WE TALKED TO SERGEANT CHRIS HO WITH THE VAN BUREN POLICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN, LOTS OF POWER LINES DOWN VAN BUREN STREET. STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTS ARE WORKING TO CLEAR THE ROADWAYS FOR TRAFFIC. HOWEVER, HE SAYS THE LIST OF ROAD CLOSURES IS SO LONG. THEY COULDN’T EVEN RELAY IT OVER THE PHONE. SO THEY’RE DISCOURAGING PEOPLE RIGHT NOW FROM BEING OUT BECAUSE THAT’S HINDERING THOSE SERVICE TRUCKS FROM DOING THEIR JOB AND GETTING THESE ROADWAYS CLEARED AND QUITE FRANKLY TRYING TO GET OUT IN CRAWFORD COUNTY RIGHT NOW MIGHT NOT BE TOO SUCCESSFUL. SO AGAIN IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO GET IT OUT STAY INSIDE THIS MORNING NOT SO MUCH FOR WEATHER THAT’S HAPPENING. BUT FOR WHAT’S ALREADY OCCURRED LIVE
